Richard Foss started us off by running the first and second leg, getting us a
good place. Then, just to intimidate the other teams, he turned around and
ran back to Grahamstown! Kevin Duff took over for leg 3 and gained some
ground, putting us into second place. We managed to stay in second place
for the remainder of the race. Russell (RDF) Cloran tackled some mean
hills in leg 4. Kevin Rafferty completed leg 5 in almost no time at
all. Phil West remained in the bus for as long as possible, and then
completed leg six, including a long hill near the end. Dom White ran one
of the longer legs of the race. During this time he showed us more than
his running capabilities!
(See the
photos). Passing the Pig and Whistle, Adam and Phil stopped off for a
drink. We also waved to Caro 6km away, she waved back :). Bradley
(Darb) Whittington completed leg eight without breaking sweat. Bradley
Clayton, wal ran leg nine, handing the baton over to Adam
(Kingers) King, who was woken up, given a geek cap, computer mouse and pointed
in the right direction. Along the way Adam acquired a hazard sign from the
bus, because he was labeled "the hazard" during the race.
The enjoyed day ended with lunch at Manly flats.
Thanks to thank Jock for driving the bus and to the departments for sponsoring the bus and drinks.
