Graduation 2011
Graduation
2011 was a great occassion for the Department. In particular,
it was a great priviledge to celebrate Barry Irwin's PhD graduation as the
Department's 13'th PhD graduate.
Following his recent retirement after many years of loyal service, Emeritus Professor Pat Terry presented the top students with their prizes.
Awards were given for the best students in each course. The full list of prize winners is:
- The Open Box Prize for Computer Science I: Heather Prince
- The Janinne Franke Prize for Computer Science II: Michael Andersen
- The SAP Africa Prize for Computer Science III: Dale Tristram
- The SAP Africa Prize for the Best Progress in Computer Science: Aviwe Ntantiso
- The BSG Prize for Game and Web Development: Matthew Funcke
- The Open Box Prize for Computer Science Honours: Shaun Egan
- The Janinne Franke Prize for the Best Computer Science Honours Project: Shaun Egan and João Lourenço (joint award)
- The Centre of Excellence Prize for the Best Computer Science Research Student: Mathe Maema
